Default Large Special Needs Pacman (male) Seattle, WA area.

I adopted a large male pacman, currently in between vet visits. After adopting and having done everything at home that I could, a vet visit was needed to determine why he was refusing to eat. The previous owner fed him a base diet of mice which I stopped immediately once in my care. Vet couldn't conclude if it was bacterial or something internally that wasn't working properly. His next visit is Monday March 24th to start special bath treatments and possibly a test to check organs. I love my frog but after all the money I've spent so far just in vet visits (over $200) I think he may be be in better care with someone who is more experienced with pacman frogs and has the extra time to give him. Other than the not eating, the vet said he is nice and strong, nice pink mouth, very large though a bit overweight.

If you are interested please message me and we can talk out how or when you would want to give him a new home.

Hi Jennie! Fatness is result of it's diet and a danger to it's liver and heart. As long as frog has fat reserves and is healthy; not eating is OK. Also, it's winter, so that slows their metabolism down.

If frog is accustomed to large prey, you could try to feed him a "frog sausage." You make those with human sausage casings and can put inside crickets/dubias/night crawlers (for movement) and even prepared foods (Pacman, Repashy's Meat Pie). Make one about frog size and wiggle it in frogs face. If it's hungry it should strike it .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

I know, that is what the vet and I had discussed. Without the test for his organs we can't be positive if he has fatty liver which is what the vet is suspecting it is and until we get that test she can't treat him for that specific issue. Its been a couple months since he's eaten on his own. I will try what you suggested though, thank you! It couldn't hurt to try that at all, he was tube fed at the vet 2 weeks ago.

Jennie.. if frogs having a fatty liver is like humans having a fatty liver, this actually should fix itself with the right diet.
