Know frogs change color as they mature or in response to the environment; but that dramatic change is strange. Can you provide a pic of your frog without enclosure glass being in the way? Thank you
!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Pretty frog!![]()

Yeah he's been eating more than any other pacman I've ever had!

I really hope Carlos comes back and follows up on this, or someone who knows does at least. I think your frog is really cool and I'm jealous of you! But, I just hope it's not a bad sign. Like Carlos said, it's strange that his color changed so dramatically.
But maybe you just did a good job of simulating his natural environment and temperature and stuff, and he feels really comfortable, so he's happy and just camoflauging and hunting all day! I don't know, but I really hope he's healthy. What's the little booger's name? Does it seem to have any other strange stuff going on?
Edit: Oh, his name is FDR? Like the President? That's really awesome! Why did you choose that name?
I'm no expert on this but your frog appears to be in a defensive posture? If that's the case your frog looks fine. But if your frog was not acting defensively and looks like that all the time, then it might be sick (?). We can get Carlos and Grif to chime in on that.
Thanks for all the advise and help! He seems pretty heathy, eating more than any other pacman I've ever had. I gave him the name FDR because I name most of my frogs after presidents haha

A frog that is eating well points to a healthy one, so maybe it changed color in response to environment. On a note apart, FDR appears to lack the two false eyespots behind the horns that characterize an Ornate.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I hope you will keep us updated on FDR. I've never seen such a dramatic change!
Its in response to the environment. They will darken to blend in. Coconut Fiber substrate usually causes the frog to darken and try to match the dirt.
As for that odd posturing. It could be a defensive position in reaction to you photographing him, but I'd like to see an updated picture of him sitting on a flat surface just to be sure. As Corlos said, eating well is a sign of a happy healthy frog, but need to be sure something else isn't apparent.
The spots are there. The angle of the pic makes them hard to see. They are close to the bar across the frog's eyes. They can be seen in the first picture posted on this thread.
Thanks for all the help guys! He just ate a ton of crickets so I'll take him out and get a picture of him tomorrow before his daily feeding.
