How do I grow moss

How do I grow moss or culture it ?

I have found two mosses I have been able to keep happy in vivarium a so far... The tree fern moss from Joshsfrogs and the java tropical moss from Black Jungle.

Last year I tried getting local moss to grow. The temps were too warm. No luck.

A lot depends on the moss, as heather stated. Starting with a good quality moss is crucial. I never used the tree fern moss from Josh's so I can't speak on it. Java moss is an aquatic moss and you can propagate it easily in a Tupperware container on a windowsill. If using moss to cover a background, I suggest a moss mix from folius.net moisten it, paint it on and let it grow.
