So I am building a 36x18x36 WTF enclosure. I will most likely not have a waterfall, but maybe a mister or a fogger. I will have a planted enclosure, I want to do a natural substrate that will not smell. I have ordered some hydroballs for the drainage layer. I plan on using the hydroballs, then weed block, then coco fiber and finally magnolia leaves. I want to make sure that I am not making a mistake with the substrate. If all of that is right, how much water should I put in the hydroballs first? How about cleaning the water out, is it necessary? Do I need Isopods or Springtails? The main feature will be a foam background with driftwood. Thanks in advance!

. If going with a natural vivarium style set-up, recommend use a dead space as mentioned by Gail. Reason for it, is that a drainage layer in a 18 x 36 in. bottom is going to be very heavy. Do not use coco fiber (no plant nutrients) in combo with live plants, use ABG soil or similar mix.
