Plastic Vivarium

Hello all,

Im still without frog, but still researching. Ive found these highly regarded plastic vivariums by Bugzarre (UK) online and was wondering if they could be used for a Horned Frog ? Maybe with a heat mat on one side. I would probably need a low wattage heat light too. I don't know how I would use the light on this kind of enclosure though.

Yeah looks good! Plastic tanks are better for holding moisture which is a must for pacmans! Make sure to put him on a few inches of moist (not swampy) coconut husk and you're golden! As for heating the heat mat on the side is a great idea.

I am looking at the do's and don'ts for Zoo Med under tank heaters. They are to be used on glass terrariums only. It says do not use on acrylic, plastic, wood or any other type of terrarium except the Reptotherm mini heater which can be used on plastic terrariums. I don't know what kind of under tank heaters you may have in Wales.

Would you consider lighting with this kind of container ? Rather than a heat mat ?

Check with a gardening store to see if they have seed starter mats, they are used under the plastic trays for plants, only raise it by a small amount but it is something to check into if you only need a few °

Wouldn't recommend a heat lamp. They dry the tank out pretty quickly and may even melt the lid (if it's plastic)
