He/she is living in a 20 long tank by himself with water cleaned often.. a heater and a good filter ...he has a very nice tank half water have land...he is fed goldfish fish and crickets.
I thought it was a burn from the heater at first bc it was very tiny mark at first but it has gotten worse.
What do you think is wrong?
Welcome to the forum. You need to get him/her to the vet asap. Don't wait.
It could be a bacteria which your frog will need prescribed medication for. Fast
I agree with Ebony. Looks like it could be a bacterial infection, a vet needs to diagnose it.
Thanks I am gonna bring him asap....hopefully he will be okay.... what do u think caused it? His tank is always very clean... he is the only frog in the tank so it is easy to maintain. I do have goldfish and crickets in there too that he was eating before this happened.
Simple problem here. The bullfrog has roughed up his face on the sides of his enclosure. A twenty-long is too small for a typical Ranid like Lithobates catesbeianus. Most Ranids are skittish and are startled easily. If kept in a tank that is too small, like a twenty-gallon-long, they will injure themselves by launching themselves into the sides of the tank when startled. So my advice to you is to get a much larger enclosre (55 or larger) and have a vet take a look at its injuries.
Also, drop the goldfish for the frogs diet, as they are not a healthy item for them to eat. Stick with various kinds of insects and earthworms.
