About how old is it when a RETF will start making their croaking/calling sounds?
There's really no set "age" as to where any species of frog starts croaking/calling exactly on that day. Croaking/calling to my knowledge, usually happens when the humidity/temperature changes or they're in the mating stage.
At least a year old, maybe even a little bit more than that.
I just got mine a couple of weeks ago. I know they are not adults yet because they are about 1 and a quarter inch long (not sure what age). But one of mine croaks. As soon as he opens his eyes he is croaking and sometimes even before he opens his eyes. He'll croak a few times and then off he goes to wander the tank. He'll croak sometimes just randomly and then right when he's getting comfy to go to bed, he'll start croaking a nice song again before going to sleep.
I also put this sound recording (Red Eyed Tree Frog) of several Red-Eyed Leaf Frog's croaking and he will sing too as well as the other day we were singing happy birthday to my son (it was morning but my froggies were already asleep) and he opened his eyes just to sing with us and then fell right back to sleep. It was really cool.
ill try that recording tonight around midnight or so and see what happens. If I get anything Ill make sure to record and share. Thanks![]()
