The more I'm researching the varadero's the more I'm starting to like them. Maybe it's just my Colorado roots coming out, but an orange frog with blue legs? Yes please! My PCF's are named Atwater and Elway if you need another example to see where I'm going with this.
Back to business. I've always been into the smaller frogs from the beginning, with thumbnails and mantellas at the top of my list. There are two big hurdles for me to get over. First would be their rumored difficulty in keeping, especially for a dart newbie. Second, the dart frog project was to be a joint venture with my wife, and auratus being her frog of choice. But since she brought home a pacman last weekend, I think I may get a little more of a vote towards this one.
The varaderos are number two on my frog bucket list, and inching their way to the top. This is mostly due to a chance meeting of a local breeder with tadpoles.
I've tried to talk myself out of thumbnails while looking into other darts, but I keep coming back to them. My questions are the same as most of my other posts. Pretty much looking for advice about thumbnails, varadero in particular. Any "hands on" experience with these frogs, pros, cons, their personalities. I'm looking for the stuff that you CAN'T find in Google, your personal stories and opinions.
Also, please feel free to let me know if I'm not making a good decision by starting off with these frogs.
Thank you for any advice
