The first thing you need to do is throw away the moss substrate. Your Horned Frog wil swallow it and become impacked. Use only Eco-earth or similar material for your substrate. Follow the instructions on the package.![]()
Oh dang ok thanks I have some that I use for my other animals so I'll change it as soon as I get home. That's what he was on in the pet store but I guess I should have known it arroyos be wrong
Not all pet store employees are well versed in how to keep your frog healthy. Here in Juneau where I bought my Horned Frog, the employee picked the frog up with their bare hands. God knows where their hands had been before they helped me. Everyone "out there" please, please use disposable rubber gloves when you handle your frog. They are cheap, a lot cheaper than getting your frog sick.![]()
I do know not to pick them up unless it is necessary. Anyway since I have to change the substrate. I am assuming I should do so immediatly however I just got him yesterday and do not Want to disturb him. Could it possibly wait so it doesn't stress him to much or does it need to be done asap?
You need to change the substrate right away. Changing the substrate won't stress him anymore than bringing him home I don't think.![]()
