Default 10 month old ABF hasn't eaten for weeks.

Hello, I have an African bullfrog that hasn't eaten for around 3 weeks now.

The cage is about 2 and a half feet long, one and a half feet wide.

    It lives by itself.

I have owned the frog for around 8 months now.

Temperatures are always around 83-87F, using a ceramic heat emitter and UVA light bulb.

I use eco-earth soil and it's always damp, Not too wet and soupy but always moist. Water is treated with chlorine remover. Has a water dish.

I don't handle it, only to move into a feeding dish.

It is winter here, is it normal for them to fast during winter? It's colors are normal, it doesn't look sick. The weird thing is I found poop in the water dish last night and it looked completely normal. I have offered appropriate sized dubias and it just won't eat

Many frogs slow down eating during the Winter, even if we keep their tanks parameters stable. If frog pooped, we can cross out impaction, which is a good thing. Since you mentioned the substrate, it should be mixed with dechlorinated water too, until it clumps in fist but does not drip water out.

Have you tried feeding night crawlers or other food? How long is the frog body? Does it look normal or is frog loosing weight. Thank you !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Cool him down a little. Constant temps of 83° to 87° isn't good. Needs a drop at night. 83° is a decent day time temp, but you can drop to the high 70s is ok. 77° to 78°.

Thanks for your reply!! Yes, the substrate is mixed with dechlorinated water and clumps in my hand but doesn't drip out water. My frog is VERY picky about food, won't eat nightcrawlers. I'm going to try crickets tonight even though they aren't very nutritious, I just want to get food in that belly! My frog doesn't seem to be losing weight at all. It acts and looks totally normal. The frog body is about 4 inches roughly.
