    Default My froggie

Ok so I got my new little friend today, it is only about 1 in length and he hasn't burrowed into the substrate, made a mess of the little bit of water that was in the dish kicking the substrate every where though. The condensation on the tank is from the substrate, I used fresh made with treated water not what the lady at the store scooped into the tiny tub I brought him home in. I am hoping the "plant" in the tank will give him enough of a hiding place at least until he grows some and I can put him into the larger tank. Going to be setting up the larger one with the covering on the sides n back shortly. As soon as I can get some help with the therm/hygrometer that I bought from PetSmart which came without instructions and the not so helpful people on the phone had no clue on how to work it or what size battery to use. Hope this picture isn't too big

Hello and congratulations on your first frog!
He should feel ok, but if you really want him to feel safe, cover off the 3 sides of the tank with a nice jungle wallpaper, even cardboard does the job. But it will reduce his stress levels.
Eventhough there isn't a problem, since your a new owner, it wouldn't hurt to fill out the below questions. So we can give you advice if anything is missing or incorrect.

    “Trouble in the Frog Enclosure”

The following information will be very helpful if provided when requesting assistance with either your frog or enclosure. Ok everything seems fine though, he has burrowed in a bit and has his head above the substrate peeking out between the leaves of the plant. The room is a bit on the cool side I have one of those red heat bulb things set up near the carrier but without the temp gauge working I have it set a bit aways, I can put a room heater in there if needed that has a temp setting on it so he doesn't get too cold.

Sounds like everything is perfect! The digital gauges shouldn't be so hard, feel free to post a picture of it or the name on here, I'm sure someone will know it.
The ones I use I just have to put the battery in when I use it first and it automatically does everything for me. Just remember to attach both probes about 2 inches above the substrate.

    Thanks

Its an All Living Things brand thermometer/hygrometer combo- digital from petsmart. Has a battery compartment for a watch battery.. but no code's to tell me exactly which size I would need. Nor was there any instructions on how to use it.. very frustrating. If I wouldn't have already opened the package I would have taken it back for a different brand.

How much was that digital Therm/Hydro?

I would return it and get either of the following. Even though it is opened return it and tell them there are no instructions and it sucks lol.

Amazon.com: Zoo Med HygroTherm Humidity and Temperature Controller: Pet Supplies

Amazon.com: Exo Terra Digital Combination Thermometer/Hygrometer: Pet Supplies

They are both super simple to setup and the one that isn't the Zoo Med Hydro Therm is super affordable.

I have one of these. They are fairly accurate. There should be a small piece of instructions with it, but I didn't read it. One button is for the mode settings and the other appears to be some sort of memory. It is a confusing device, but once you set it up it works well. Having two probes is also a good feature.
