New to the forum, not to the hobby.

Hey all,

Just saying hello to all the hobbyist to this forum and hopefully I can be around to help others from my experiences and gain expereince from others while im at it.
Ive been in the hobby of frog keeping since I was around 9 years old and have raised several species of frogs since then. I started building vivariums for a non-profit organization several years ago for fun and I've adapted some skills throughout the years. I am expereinced in the care of a several pond/marsh/swamp dwellers, a couple of tree dwellers, and a few species of little rainforest guys (darts). I am still weak in the dendro world of knoledge
I currently only house live vivariums. (recently doing several new builds) No frogs at this time. Come april I will have a few Albino Lithobates catesbeianus and a couple Pyxicephalus adspersus and look forward to all the adventures it comes with it. Just need to finish building and growing and I'll be ready.
Look forward to meeting all of you throughout various froggy and vivarium threads.

Hi and welcome to Frog Forum. Both American and African bullfrogs are very interesting and have kept several. I prefer keeping Xenopus and Pipa.

I have next to zero experience with Xenopus and Pipa species. To be honest I personally havn't even come accross them at a trade show or in the small business world in my local area. I think I have seen a few dwarfs sold in fish tanks along with other fish at the dreaded PETCO.

Xenopus are becoming more difficult to find thanks to being accused of chytrid carriers. They are very easy to care for and fun to watch. Dwarfs are not cool as I have a difficult time seeing them

Chytrid is such an easy fungus to get rid of though!?! People shouldn't fear that sickness...its easily treatable with strict quarentine procedures for 2 weeks of treatment and 2 additional weeks of quarentine. I have a very nice procedure to eliminate it completely if you follow it to the T. Can be eliminated in less than 15 days. Test after 30 days for confirmation. I learned about it awhile ago since I love bullfrogs =).

EDIT: Oops, totaly just realized the treatment I know is practically useless for aquatic frogs. uggh I wonder if I can adapt some mixture to be suitable for the xenopus. hmmmmmmmm
