Hi Everyone, i bought a whites tree frog last week and hav found loads of useful information on here, my partner told me i wasnt allowed until i had researched and so did as much as i could, I am also the proud owner of a dog (Enzo) 2 cats (Tilly&China) 3 ferrets (rhubarb,custard,pickles) a harris hawk (cookie monster) a red tailed buzzard (zeus) a rabbit (thor) 3 chickens (rita, sue n bob) 4 chinese painted button quails n my new arrival, whites frog called Peewee, as u can probably tell we love our animals. Look forward to learning from all the experienced frog owners on here on how to keep Peewee healthy n happy, just quickly if anyone gets to the bottom of my message my frog is v quiet n doesnt seem to move v much even at night, i was wondering if this is normal, im assuming it is ? Thanx for any answers

meant to say is eating well and is having crickets dusted with calcium n multivit alternatively, is pooing, fed every other day, humidity 75-85 which from what ive read is correct, has a side mounted heat mat controlled by an electronic thermostat, tank misted with dechlorinated water, dnt think any of this wud affect his activity but just to be on the safe side

Hello Peewee welcome to the forum! Whites tree frogs are usually lazy chubs that will not move much during the day and are hard to observe at night sometimes, I work with cresties and i can hear thumps against the glass at 2pm Whats the size of his/her tank? how is his poo looking? and how are the temps?

Hi thanx for replying, he is in a 12/12/18 as this is what was recommended to me, his temp is at about 80f n i drop this by a couple of degrees at night, the poos i cleaned out were like tiny minature mice poos, not runny but not rock hard either, i havnt found any left over crickets wen i cleaned him yesterday, hes been getting 5 at a time, dusted alternatively with his calcium n multivit, fed every other day, he does move around occasionally n keeps changing from a really bright light green to a muddy brown colour but i understand that this is normal for whites ? Thanx for any help or advice, oh i cleaned his tank by removing bark, plants n climbing logs and scrubbed with a new toothbrush and hot water rinsing with dechlorinated water before returning to tank, no detergents were used, thanx again

Well, as many other new frog owners you got mixed advice and need to correct some items. First please read this article: Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea. As you can see from it; need an 85F basking spot. Ventilation is more important than humidity; would keep the later between 50-65%.

Ensure you gut load the crickets with fresh veggies (carrots and lettuce) and crushed cherios or oats. Crickets and other insects should be sized same as distance between frogs eyes. Can also feed dubia or similar roaches and earthworms like night crawlers. Using a small glass bowl (with like a 2 in. tall lip) for feeding can help monitor what your frog actually eats and prevent supplement dust from falling off.

A White's can grow to 4 in. (10 cm.) and a 12x12x18 in. enclosure is going to be very cramped for an adult. Would recommend a min. 18x18x24 for one and a 18x24x24 for a couple. Might sound like a lot; but members have 3 in a 36x18x36 and the frogs use all of the space available. Good luck !

PeeWee your gonna love your WTF, like Carlos said, you'll need a bigger set up. I have 3 in the Exo Terra 36x18x36 and it's the BEST investment I've ever made for the health and well-being of my trio. Other than the size of the tank it sounds like you're spot on with the care. You must have one HUGE flat to house all those critters, or 100 acres of country side.

And yes, please post some pics of ALL your non-human friends. I love raptors.

Yes, I'd have to agree... Your new frog would be happier in a 18x18x24" or larger home. They love to climb high . Carlos has given you good advice for humidity...see if you can get yours to drop a bit to 50 - 70%. Higher humidity can cause respiratory infections in whites tree frogs... No fun. Temps as mentioned above also. Give him a nice corner basking spot. The small halogen bulbs work nicely to create a small warm spot. It should be around 84-85'F in the basking area, around 80'F for the rest of his home with a subtle drop at night. I think adding a basking corner will help to drop your humidity to just right . Did you add some nice climbing areas?

Thanx for all the responses and advice, he is only quite small at the mo and i was planning on upgrading him to a flash tank with mister etc as and wen, i will make adjustments to his humidity n temp as advised, the crickets are being gutloaded on fresh veggies and thoroughly dusted, literally had him for 6 days now but want to get it right from the beginning to avoid any future difficulties if i can help it, thanx again from both me and Peewee,
