Menards had this XtraBond®250 silicone on sale, 12 bottles for $10. It says that it is FDA approved as food safe, 100% silicone with an acetoxy base but it is mildew resistant. Would this be safe for PDFs? I looked at the MSDS sheet on it but I'm not sure if it would be okay or not, I don't understand what all the information means in relation to the safety for my frogs.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Hello, im no expert but ive heard that mildew resistant is not safe for frogs but i would just stick with the 100% silicone just to be safe.
Hello and welcome to FF! Hard to tell if it's "anti-microbial formula" is something to worry about with frogs or if the "food safe" label makes it safe for them. A few decades ago there was 1 kind of silicone and it was safe. Then they created the bath and kitchen anti-mildew and we just stayed away from that one. Now; it's getting quite complicated!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks so much! I was able to find some frog safe silicone at Menards and started my tank. Here is how it looks so far

Sorry missed your reply; been under the weather the last few days. Your enclosure looks great and if a first time job it's outstanding. Did you collect those wood pieces? They add lots of natural character to decor!

I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. I hope you are feeling much better.
I got the wood from a great local store called Inland Aquatics, they have a lot of interesting pieces.
