hi,
I have an acf already, it's body without the legs is about 2 1/2 inches long. My new one is still a baby about 3/4 inch. Does any one know how big it will need to be before I can put it into the tank with my other one? I don't want him to be dinner!
Thanks!
Typically ACF like most other predators will feed on prey around 1/3 their own size. I wouldn't feel safe until your other frog was at least 1/2 the size of the other frog. I myself have a male that isn't quite there yet and I worry he will never get big enough to co-exist with my rather large female frogs.
It's always a bad idea to put two unmatched size of the same creature in one tank if they're not adults yet. 95% of the time the smaller one gets eaten or dies from bullying stress or from not eating
Hello and welcome to FF! The smaller one needs to be over half the size of the larger one. Also; recommend you introduce the larger one into the smaller one's tank, or completely rearrange the decor in the larger's tank at introduction. Do it on a day you can observe for any problem or harassment. Although normally they won't; remember reading here a few months back, about a male being bullied by a larger male. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
I have two males that have together for 15 years without problems, they are both the same size. ACFs are generally mild mannered and don't establish territories. Keep an eye out for aggressive behavior, I have seen females bully the smaller males.

That's interesting. My male has not been introduced to my group of three females yet, is there any particular reason for the bullying, is it feeding related? How do they bully exactly?
I've never seen aggression in my three female frogs, I figure they are simply predatory yet docile animals.
