    Question ID / Gender Please?

I've had this guy for a while now, but I'm still new to pacmans. What species, and IS he in fact a guy? The seller told me male, but I never even thought to ask species. His name's George, and no, his weird lip does not harm him. It is a birth deformity. It does not hinder his eating (he's a good six inches across now, so if it did he dealt with it nicely).

    Thanks!

This is a hybrid. It is referred to as a Fantasy frog which is a mix between ceratophrys cranwelli and C. cornuta. Also looks female, but to be sure you need to check the frog's thumbs for nuptial pads. They are dark pots on the side of each thumb that look like a mole.

She looks huge. Based on size alone I'd call that a female. But absence or presence of nuptial pads on the medial side of thumbs is definitive.

Well... George is now short for Georgia. No Nuppy pads. Either way, she's cute. I'm used to toads, not frogs. I got her at such a steal though (Him/herself, him/her aquarium, river rock gravel substrate and dirt, resin log and fake plants, giant block of sandstone, and a little water pump for $50) that I couldn't pass her up. Guy even fed him/her right before I took her.

Guy told me something about the snout shape showing gender. Any truth to that or was he totally off?

There is some truth in snout shape being indicative of gender, but it isn't the most reliable technique as there's always exceptions to the rule. Nuptial pad is probably the only definitive physical trait.

Very nice colors and patterns on your Fantasy . Would be careful when feeding it in enclosure; the gravel and pebbles in the water area are an impaction risk .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
