I have had my FBTs for a few days now and they are quite active and healthy. However, my concern is my set up isn't great for them.
I keep the appropriate humidity and temperature levels, have cocofiber substrate, and even some moss to keep the area moist. Though I have seen many people with more of a half land half water set up, where as I have a very large soaking dish. All three of them fit with more than enough room and I do daily water changes with water treated with seachem prime.
Though off topic, I love these little guys. They are a joy to watch![]()

If they are captive bred, they'll be used to whatever setup they came from. But in the wild, they live on the shorelines of rice patties, ponds, and such. I'd at least start with half water, half land to learn what your frogs like. 2 of mine like to lie on rocks partially submerged in water. One likes to float on his tiptoes then climb out and bask on the dock, and back and forth. The fourth is all over the place - the tank is his kingdom! LOL! None of mine actually like swimming (as some do) so I reduced their water level and added more rocks to accommodate them. Hope that helps.
Mine were captive bred and had a large water dish to hang out in. I'd like to think my water dish is more elegant, in the fact that it has varying depths so they can scoot around to wherever they like.
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making some kind of horrible FBT faux pas.

If they like the water bowl, maybe give them more water space to play in. I'm too lazy to change the water everyday so that's why I have the water high enough with a water filter. Then I have land space in plastic containers.

Yeah, I want to eventually make a nice half land half water for them, but for the moment I have more of a terrarium setup. And I don't mind changing the water daily, gives me something to do!

Pothos in water, african violet island, and a beer glass with a lucky bamboo and arms off some kind of bromeliad-looking spider plant my mom gave me. My tank now looks like this. Fancy-schmancy waterfall made from stacking feeder bowls. The frogs really enjoy that feature when they're not romancing in Gary's shell (the snail) or the cavern of loooooove. LOL! ;-)

Is your Spongebob and Gary made of plastic or terracotta ? I like that feeder bowl waterfall idea.

Terra cotta. Spongebob is a chia pet and Gary is a tea light candle holder from Partylite.
