Question Planning a Future Weekend Trip

In early June I plan on taking an out of town trip. While, as a last resort I have some people that would be willing to take care of the animals, I was wondering if such a short trip would not impact their health. I plan to leave Friday, feeding them before I leave, and returning sometime Sunday afternoon/evening. At this time the frogs should be 10 months.
I was wondering what option would be the best.

Well, I personally believe that you have two different options:

    A) Find somebody who will come at least once during your trip to check on them

    B) Feed them well on Friday morning and do your water change then. Make sure that the tank is clean and the frogs are well fed. Check that the temperature of the house is at a constant and optimum temperature.

Some may argue that until the frogs reach full maturity that they must be fed everyday, despite the fact that adult frogs are fed only a few times a week.

In all, if all the conditions are stable, I don't think there will be a problem. These frogs are quite hardy.

I've taken frequent 3-4 day trips and never had any issues. Feed them right before you leave like you said. ACF are capable of going a very very long time without food.

My biggest concern about leaving town is making sure the lid is secure so they do not escape while away.

They have a very secure lid and I try to keep the water level just a little lower than normal to prevent any kind of escape-antics. It is good to know that they are hardy enough to withstand a short trip. Would you happen to know if the same goes for fire bellied toads?

As far as going a few days without food, I would think most reptiles or amphibians are capable of this without any real harm. ACF are pretty amazing with their ability to survive starvation conditions, they're better than most but I doubt a FBT would have any issues going 4 days without food either.

    Awesome.
I've heard of people feeding their FBTs only twice a week, which seems a little harsh.
But thanks for all the help, Michael.

It really depends on how much each feeding is. Herps just aren't mammals they can go a while without food.

My frogs get fed twice a week tops, sometimes they go up to two weeks without being fed. A weekend trip should be no problem as far as not eating goes.
