The dark brownish-purple is a nighttime color change. I have A.moreletii and the CB juveniles turn this color at night and back to green in the daytime. My WC ones are adults and they do not change. This is one of the things I am recording while studying them. I am curious to see if the CB ones change color when they become adults and if it's the females or males that change. Right now both sexes do. Anyway, yes this is normal.
The only clear one I have of his head is this one. Hes sleeping right now so if this picture is not good enough ill take one tonight while hes wide awake.
This is his color today

Glad every things OK Mike. I hope Paul can tell you if you have a male or female.
Thanks Ebony. I kinda hope its a female. I like the fact that they are usually bigger.@ Paul, Do these frogs get darker green as they age? I would also like to thank everyone for the fast responses.
