Hi i went to petco to pick up some food and i found a whites tree frog with green tree frogs.even worse theres was like 20 of each and in a 5 gallon tank.idots

That's terrible and unfortunately I hear it happens often. You could ring them and let them know your concerns. At least you would have done your best to help the frogs.

My local pet store currently has several Whites Tree Frogs mixed with Tomato Frogs...their tank is overpopulated in a tiny 5 gallon tank. Makes me so angry...

When I see frogs in situations like this it makes me want to buy another couple of terrariums to properly house them. But that's what you get when you go into a pet shop that's a large scale cooperation.

One of the small local shops nearby always has fire-bellied newts in with african clawed frogs. Another keeps a fire-bellied toad in with some kind of asian crab. Neither seem like a terrific idea to me.

On the other hand, I've never seen frogs mixed in the petsmarts I've been to. I've never seen more than 2 frogs at any given petsmart though, so it might just be the individual store or the timing of my visit.

Rescuing poorly kept animals seems like a good idea, but they'll probably just fill up the space again with new ones and are rewarded with a sale.

Working with animals of any kind takes common sense, diligence and daily hard work. Constant cleaning and feeding is a boring job, attention to any health issues that come us, dealing with customers which requires good manners and social interaction, studying up on the animals cared for, and then more feeding and cleaning. It's the emergencies that can wreck a daily schedule. It takes a very special type of person to own or manage a pet store. Be a pro-active customer with a nice attitude.

You guys prob already know this.

But in Australia (well N.S.W) Pet shops aren't aloud to sell frogs or any kind reptiles. you have to get them though licensed breeders and have a license your self.

It should be like that everywhere. It stops pet stores giving out the wrong information etc and stops ignorant people unknowingly treating them poorly.
