Looks like the Reaper has visited many forum members the last week and taken some of our family pets with him . Well, I got hit too and sadly had to euthanize Red this morning. He had been refusing to eat pellets last couple weeks but would still eat treats and showed no outward symptoms and was active. Then yesterday morning I noticed him "swimming" motionless in a tank corner and unresponsive. Within an hour he started to literally melt away from what I think was a shutdown of it's immunity system and a very aggressive bacterial attack. By this morning I knew could not save him and decided to end his suffering. He died painlessly with an overdose of anesthetics .

Red came to my life 3 1/2 years ago from Thailand. I had actually chosen another AAA level Red Super Shock and somehow my fish ended in Malaysia and the seller sent me Red without notice of switch. I knew right away and contacted the seller in Thailand and transshipper in CA. The seller admitted to the switch and offered another fish or a refund. The offered replacements were not AAA, so I got the refund and kept Red . Raising him was fun because it was a very interactive fish; a trait it kept until two days ago. He was not a show fish due to an irregular dorsal fin; but was a great pet fish none the less. I'm kind of numbed out right now and know this loss has not sunken in yet... this one is going to take time.
As a final salute to my dynamic, powerful, and friendly Red, I leave you guys with a video of him !
