Default Justin Grimm awesome Peninsula Vivarium

I've been researching build threads and videos across the net trying to get ideas for my soon to start vivarium and future home of "Thunder Thighs" and her IMI friends . While looking around, came across these two videos that depict not only a gorgeous set-up; but are "professionally" made. The time lapse effects on the first one are great to show build progress and the clips of the frogs in sequence with the music on the second video just made my day. I even forgot the pain of shoveling snow for one hour this afternoon !

Don't know who Justin Grimm is; but he has my thanks for sharing such an artful production .

    Hope you enjoy them !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Justin builds amazing tanks! He is truly inspiring. That peninsula tank, if I recall correctly, houses 2 species of darts. Of course, jason has kept darts for a very long time. He is also one of the first people to make a clay background, as well as numerous innovations in the build world. Oh, and he's an awesome guy to boot.

This is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing the video.

Personally, I like more simple backgrounds.
I don't go all the way up the back w/ background material
I spy...... I like to be able to go around the back of the tank to check things out .
Like this one of Justin's I leave the sides exposed/uncovered glass.

But then ....the more I learn the less I know

My imis for example, spend 80 % of their time in the canopy of which is created with vines ( it's right against the ceiling); and are seldomly seen on the ground.

Caution needs to be taken when creating the background for some species.
ie for imitators, the background has to be sealed like a vault. They WILL find any little opening to crawl into...not good.

Same with the aratus....they disappear for days into any crevice So, it needs to be really safe.

    Just my 2 cents

Lynn brings up an excellent point. People forget that while they are classified as "terrestrial", many species of darts live not on the forest floor, but high in the canopy and never actually ever touch the ground. That's why they lay their eggs in bromeliads, because it's the only source for water high in the canopy.
