Right, I need to pick your brains. I tried searching on Google as you do but I cannot find much information so thought I would ask here...
I wanted to create an enclosure for my Bumblebee PDF (when I get them) and wanted to use the correct plants from where the species is from (Venezuela).
If anyone could be so kind to list or point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Danny.
Most bromeliads, fittonias and arums/aroid plants. Most plants have been introduced or has become invasive species somewhere so specifics nowadays are kinda hard to get by. Basically the northern South American region contains the same flora with a mix and match of each species representative. Try researching for Amazon forest plants and you'll virtually find all those in Venezuela as well
Thank you for the reply, I will search as you suggested and hopefully be put on the right track of choosing plants
This could be a useful article for you:

Oh my, that is perfect. Thank you!
Now to write them all down and research what they look like, needs etc. Thanks again!!!
You're welcome!

I have done many aquatic biotopes and i can tell you from experience that the absolute best place to start is research the animal itself first and foremost. Having a country is nice, but a lot of plants are regional. Also, do D. Leucomelas live on the forest floor? Do they live in the canopy? (Yes darts live in the tree tops too) building a "correct biotope" is not easy. And a lot of people bail out when they find out their animal lives on the forest floor with basically ferns, tree saplings and leaf litter. There are very few colorful plants that grown on the rain forest floor.
Also, keep in mind that your frogs are most likely going to be captive bred, so they really won't be able to distinguish between a dendrobium orchid from Costa Rica from one from Venezuela. The biotope isn't really for them, it's for you, as are the aesthetics of most vivariums. It all depends on how detailed you want to be with it.
Another thing to keep in mind is availability if plants from the region. Most of the more exotic plants (which may be the only options available) are not cheap, so plan a high budget for plants when doing a true biotope.
Sorry, I don't want to sound like a downer, just want to prepare you for what's to come. Lol

I'm not bothered by having colourful plants, if I could that would be good, but would rather try to replicate as much as possible and within reason... Although I probably have already failed by having a dripwall/waterfall. I wanted ferns and leaf litter anyway, but if you could direct me more towards a Bumblebee PDF's natural environment that would be fantastic. Every time I search the species I am directed to fan sites which all have the same information copy and pasted from the others haha. If there is a more informative document/video or what have you about them that would be great. I am still in research stages (Back of my tank has been great stuff'd, siliconed up and Tree fern is currently pressed on it waiting to dry) so I have a while to get things right... I hope anyway haha.

I do mean D.Leucomelas, sorry I am common.
I only know of two morphs of this species? The standard and the netted form? I assume that is what you mean...?
Gosh I feel like such an amateur
This is the one: http://www.dendrobates.org/images/thumbs/leuc1.jpg
Ok. Yeah, there a re a few morphs, the standard, fine spot and a few others I forget lol when it comes to darts, it pays to be specific. And even more so when it comes to biotopes.

I haven't forgotten about this, I just have been tied up on stuff for another forum. I will try to have some resources for you by the end of the weekend.
