Thread: Are European night crawlers safe?

Default Are European night crawlers safe?

I've been finding mixed information here on whether European night crawlers are safe for pacs to eat. I know they secrete a foul mucus. My usual Canadian night crawler supplier is having difficulty acquiring his worms due to the weather. I haven't been able to find anyone locally who has them. Even my back-up suppliers are having issues at the moment.

My main supplier has offered me European night crawlers until the Canadians arrive. Are they safe for Bernice? She's decided that she hates crickets and dubias at the moment (she's a picky lady), so those aren't an option. My girl has a big appetite. I don't want her to go without food.

Any info or advice would be fabulous, thanks!

European night crawlers are fine. The foul tasting worms are the Red Wrigglers .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Ah, thank you so much, Carlos! I'd been reading threads here and found some confusing info. This thread in particular threw me. http://www.frogforum.net/pacman-frog...tcrawlers.html It seemed to be implied that they weren't safe but maybe I just read it incorrectly.

Off to grab our girl some yummy night crawlers! Thanks, again!

First time I read they are bad. Let us know if your frogs refuse them; IMO they will eat them fine .

Will do! Hopefully, she'll slurp them up like she does the Canadian night crawlers.

I've been offering the European night crawlers to Bernice for a few nights now. She's only eaten 1 of them. She spits them out in a hurry. She's been pretty picky in the past when trying new foods, so I'll keep trying.
