Default Which Background for my 12" Tank?

I've nearly got my drainage setup in my tank and I'm starting to think about backgrounds. My tank is only 12" wide and I want the future cobalt tincs to have as much floor space as possible, but also want them to be able to climb around the background.

I like the idea of a Great Stuff background, but am worried it might expand out too far, but maybe I'm over thinking it.

Also, I'm going to want to plant the background. I'll be doing more research, but opinions are greatly appreciated.

This will be my first build.

    Thanks in advance!

Great stuff can expand lots if not used sparingly. Thin slabs of cork or similar might be a better choice. There is a good discussion on a 12 in. build in here: http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...stead-one.html. Good luck !

Great stuff with the cork works very well, If it does expand too much by
mistake, you can always use a serrated kitchen knife to cut away excess foam.

Thanks! I think I'm going to try what this guy did.

My tank is a 20H Tetra, 24x12x16 (I think). I like the idea of having the back and both sides covered, so I'll start with 1 1/2 inch styrofoam and, by the time I'm done with it, it should be smaller.

I may have to Great Stuff some plant holders in, though.

Had not watched Robc's videos from time got started with tarantulas a couple years ago. Do wear eye and breathing protection when doing that. A wire could come loose off that wheel at anytime and they do not sell spare eyes at stores.

Also, recommend prepare a slurry with dry EcoEarth and Titebond III to cover sculptured foam slab. It will be far easier and less messier than using silicone glue. Can find how to do it in this Bill's build thread. Good luck !
