    Default Nighttime viewing?

What's the best way for me to watch my frogs at night? Black light? Red light? Or, use a flashlight in short intervals? I don't want to disturb them too much.

I normally use a mobile phone flashlight. It's not as bright as your normal flashlight but enough to check up on things

    Default Nighttime viewing?

The way I understand it, as long as it is not bright, like regular lighting or sunlight, color doesn't matter. My white's become active at night even with 4ft shop lights on in the same room. Doesn't bother my mantellas either.

I use the flashlight on my phone to light up around the tank but not on the frogs directly. Ours are in the livening room and the TV light doesn't bother them.

I also use just a regular flash light, I just don't shine it in their little faces, plus I have a red light bulb that runs 24/7 for heat.

Some nocturnal frog species will tolerate indirect room light for observation; but there are some tree frogs that require night darkness to wake up and be active. For the latter; a flashlight used indirectly or a red bulb will work fine .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Years ago, when I raised Red-Eyed Tree Frog's, I used those night time spot lights that put out that purple color. They are different from Black Light. The company that made them back then was ESU but they're longer around. I think Zilla still makes them.

What was good about them was that even a 100 or 150 watt bulb didn't put out a really intense light. In a dark room you could see the frogs and their night time activities but it didn't seem to bother them. I would keep one at the far end of the enclosure so it gave the appearance of moonlight. I'm not sure if those blue bulbs would work good as night time illumination.
