i assume since my abf is nocturnal that he can see in the complete darkness that is his enclosure and room at night. are the nocturnal lights for the reptiles or for the humans viewing pleasure?
Infrared lights. I use them for heating and the red light (which they can't see) lets me see my frog 24/7 without being any the wiser. Use one of only 50 watts or lower, and get a lamp with a dimmer so you can adjust the heat as needed.
Frogs do not need a night light. If interested in viewing, can use red colored lights; but be aware they will warm up the tank.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Pyxies aren't only nocturnal. They are also diurnal and are frequently alert during the day. My males calls throughout the day and night.
As Carlos said you don't need any sort of night time light. The type of bulb he suggested for night time viewing is best.
