Default I've been tempted and reserved one!

I had an extra terrarium standing here, a 45x45x45 exo-terra. I was looking for a nice pet to fill my last one with and ran across a pixie for sale. The low price and the fact that it's CB (14.50$) made me jump on this chance. I've always loved frogs and own 6 pacmans, but I've always admired pixies for the size and brute force displays while feeding.
I have experience with pacmans but this will be my first bullfrog, I've offcourse read several caresheets and was wondering if besides these, anyone has some good advice that isn't listed in the caresheets?
I will be getting a bigger tank depending on the frogs size in the future, but for now my 45x45x45 should suffice, and if it's too big, I have some other terrariums standing around.
For now, here are some pictures of my future little guy/girl that I will be picking up next week.

Start him out in a small enclosure like you would a Pacman and upgrade as he matures. A 20 gallon is the smallest you want for most adults. As with any diet offer a variety from day 1. Should grow extremely fast and eat you out of house and home. They eat a lot.

I've read up on that, but would you happen to know howmuch they exactly chew down a week at most? I'm just curious because I'l need to know howmuch I should stock.

Babies and juveniles need to be fed daily. Same rules apply as they do for Pacman Frogs. Offer as much as he will eat in 15 minutes and that will be a pretty hefty load. Dubia roaches and Night Crawlers should make up his staple and I do mean both. Just alternate them from day to day or every couple days. Waxworm should be used as well, but as treats of course. Two or 3 per week. Pretty much any other feeder you can get your hands on. If you have a roach colony then that is good because you'll need it. Offer him small nymphs from tongs. They should be no wider than his mouth or the distance between his eyes starting from the tips of his eyelids.

Provide a hut of some kind. He will spend most of his time in his water dish for the first 5 to 6 months of his life and babies and juveniles don't develope their turbacle(the boney extension of the metatarsal used for burrowing) until near adulthood so the frog may not burrow often and will want already established hiding places.

They can be skittish or very brave and there is no way to know for sure until you start tong training. If he stares you in the face and attempts to leap up at you for not hurrying up with the grub then you'll have a brave one and some very interesting feedings and probably a few close calls once he is older. Environment is very much like the Pacman Frog except they need temps in the low to mid 80°s during the day all the time whereas Pacman Frogs can be fine with day temps in the high 70°s. Night time temps should not drop to low. No lower than 78°s even though their natural climate in some areas drops to the high 60°s and some areas even at freezing. Humidity can be a little lower. Spikes to 80% and 90% are fine but it can be as low as 55% and 60% and not seem to affect the frog at all. My advice is to stay in the high 60s to low 80s for humidity. Since the frog will bathe daily humidity isn't as big a deal. Keep the substrate moist like you would a Pacman, but you will need to change the water in the water dish 2 to 3 times a day to keep the frog healthy and alert. They foul their water a lot. I normally would do once in the morning, once mid day, and once before bed. Once he gets older it may not be as bad.

As for how much food to buy, I can't tell you that. It is something you figure out from the frog's eating habits so adjust your feeder purchases to accomidate him.

Allright, thanks alot for all the advice! I have a roach colony but it's not that established yet, so I'l just buy what I need untill my guys breed like crazy. I've also red up about vitamines, they seem to need the same as pacman frogs, is it also the same frequency?
And I had no clue about the hide, I'l be sure to pick up a nice big snake one.

I'm wondering if you can help me select a good hide, I don't know untill what size they will utilize it, so I'm posting some sizes and hope you guys can recommend one.
I've left out the small and giant ones, because they seem way under and oversized.

    • Habba Hut Medium - 5.1" x 4.7" x 2.6" (L x W x D)
    • Habba Hut Large - 7" x 6.5" x 3.5" (L x W x H)
    • Habba Hut X-Large - 9" x 6.5" x 3" (L x W x H)

You can use something in a medium size until he gets too big to go in it. I used a really small hut until he was 4". Once he hit 5" it was time for a tank upgrade and a very large hut. Exo Terra makes an extra large rock hut that works well for subadults and adults. It is the same one I have. Not very cheap though. I think I paid around $30.00 for it.

Check your roach bin is kept at their recommended temperature. Bins kept at low temps produce way less roaches than those that are .

They are at the recommended temperature, but I have about 20 adults. I've just placed orders for a stronger IR lamp, heatcable, the medium and large hide and 200 cockroaches, so that should set me up. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to cut the cockroaches up in the beginning? Since we can only get adult cockroaches around here.
