    Question wax behonia

    Are wax begonias good for vivs (do they like humidity are they toxic you know the usual) sorry I haven't been on in a bit I have been soooo busy.

    Hi Michael,
    They will be ok.
    However, the ones we see each spring at the 'garden centers' are very over fertilized.
    They will need a very long time to recycle- to get all that 'poison' out.
    Typically, the flowers on these 'garden center' varieties are forced.
    In their natural setting the flowers are more diffuse.
    They are a bit fragile too!

    I have never tried these? They are very pretty Nice colors in the leaves !

    BJ's has a beautiful collection. I have seen these at show --- very nice !

    They like high humidity, they are actually susceptible to stem and root rotting if kept too moist or not well-drained. What type of viv setup are you planning and what do you intend to live inside with them?

    i think the rex begonias or iron cross begonias will look better there. wax begonias tend to grow with height as opposed to the 2 previous plants i said that just grows low haha. your call
