Hai guys irs my first time in Frog Forums. Its been a pleasure. The people seem friendly and helpful I do have a question though. Is it okay to feed my baby pacman just goldfish and crickets for the time being before crickets as the crickets sold here are too big for it and there are no baby crickets so I might just feed him crickets and goldfishes till hes the right size for those crickets. Is it fine? PS: hes no more than 2 inches
Hello and welcome to FF! Do not recommend feeding goldfish to frogs due to their usual parasite content and low nutritional value. You can feed gut loaded insects (carrots, oats, lettuce) that are same as distance between frogs eyes. Also, if you can find a local source of earthworms, they are an excellent food source. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

In addition to parasite issues, goldfish contain an enzyme called Thiaminase that can be very harmful to reptiles and amphibians (a lot of fish do. the best safe fish are the frozen/thawed silversides you can by at petco). Individual animals have different sensitivities to this enzyme, so it's really kind of like playing Russian roulette when you feed goldfish. It can cause some serious neurological issues and even be fatal.

Thanks. But can mealworms be gut loaded?
Think mealworms natural feeding habits and digestive system constitution leave little margin for gut loading. Also, to their limited nutritional value, you have to add their thick exoskeleton that hinders digestion. If using those as treats, recommend waiting for and feed freshly molted pupae .
