Hi guys.
I once read another toad-owner write about his experience with making a self-invented sausage-food package for his Cane Toads. He mixed it up with different food sources, used proper, non-chemical sausage-skin and topped it off with a small bug inside the sausage (poor guy, still) to make the toads interested.
I can't seem to find the thread anywhere and I wanted to know if anyone else has any experience with this?
My two Bufo bufos get fed earthworms and gut-fed crickets as a staple diet, but I'm thinking this could be a good alternative if I ever have to go on a trip or vacation and someone needs to take care of them, while I'm away. Or as a food package they could get two-three times a month, with a little supplementation, to ensure they get what they need (I've ecperienced my guys quit on the earth worms if I dust them).
Anyone?
I have also read about this.
And I plan on doing the same for my packman frog.
But I haven't heard of putting a live insect in the casing.
The ingredients I have seen used vary greatly.
From found up dog food cooked beef heart, liver , chicken ect ect all kinds of sources of proteins.
Also he made two different batches.
One batch that has calcium supplements and the other batch that has multivitamins.
Then he would freeze them and thaw them out over night and put in warm water for 10 min before tong feeding.
and for the more stubborn feeders he would loosely tie the sausage to a dark thread and drag or dangle it above the frog.
Hm, okay. Interesting.![]()
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
