They will run when scared, hence the name red runners, but my toads and frogs easily catch them when not in a feeding dish. The roaches kinda meander around like the pill bugs do. Also they don't burrow like dubias or play dead. I've tried several different types of feeds and love these. Plus they don't make any noise like crickets do, don't bite and don't stink as much either. Yes the bin can get smelly, but if you keep the food fresh and use a feeder order control substrate, no problems.

Just a heads up on the red runners, they are crazy fast and surprisingly good at escaping for a species that can't climb glass. Was too afraid to continue using them as feeders myself.

    The frogs love them though...

We use crickets for our RETFs. but they are still juveniles. We offer them 4 crickets each a night and they devour them. We dust them with Vitamins and D3. We mix in fruit flies as a snack randomly, but have not ventured onto any other type of feeders yet.
