Hi all, I have a young African Bullfrog. I've read that some people offer fish, but looking for further information. Does anyone here feed fish? What types are ok and how often?
I'm planning to put together a semi aquatic terrarium and would like to have a few fish in it. I'm assuming the pixie will eat them sooner or later if I do. So, I also have a 5 gallon tank set up and ready to go that can be a holding tank so I can add/remove fish as needed. My own personal preference is mollies, but I'm thinking guppies or neon tetras are probably more likely to get left alone once my frog matures because they are so small, maybe it won't be worth the chase? Are there any small fish that I need to avoid? Is it a bad idea to incorporate fish into the enclosure? Thanks in advance!
Would not recommend keeping fish in a ABF set-up. Your frog will probably eat the fish. Either from that or by sharing the same water body, there is possibility your frog can get parasites from them . Any fish with hard spines (i.e. catfish) could introduce additional risks of injuring frog if eaten .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Are there any live fish that are safe to offer as a monthly treat? Or is the feeding fish I've read about frozen only since it kills any parasites?
