My fire belly toad will not eat and this is very very uncommon for him. He always eats, wether it is wax worms or crickets. Since we have had him we never had a hard time getting him to eat. For the last three weeks, coming up on a month, he hasn't touched his food. We recently added another fire belly toad into his tank we believe they are both males, at first we thought that it was a female. We have determined that its definately a male because he tries to mate with our male. We also know that ours is a male because at first, he was trying to mate with the male we just got. So we are definately for sure they are both males. Could the new one be bullying him? The first two months they were together we had them together there were no problems, and we still see no problems with them now except the occasional forgetting they are both males. We feed them in seperate feeder tanks to make 100% sure they are both well fed. Here lately he has started to lose weight. He is our baby and we would do anything for him. As of right now there are no vets that take frogs in this area. We have tried putting him in warm water thinking maybe his bowels aren't moving but that didn't work. We're at a loss does anyone have solutions for us? We really are in need and will try anything that will possibly work. We have NOT tried earthworms, I don't believe anywhere is saleing them because they aren't in season as it is -3 degrees here where I live.
wat are the temps, water levels, and photoperiod at? try buying earthworms from a bait shop
males looking to mate may have reduced appetites as well
We keep the temperature at a good 72 degrees. Temperature is not an issue here I dont believe..
He also has half water in his cage.
how deep is the water?
Deep enough for him to be able to stretch his legs to the bottom
