I'm a little new to pixie frogs but I do know the basics and have owned mine for five months now. He is getting large now and consumes a lot of roaches and crickets every feeding. I do gut load but they just don't seem filling and I wondered if any one has feed raw chicken gizzards to a pixie frog as a supplement. I know processed food and human food is bad for them. I know all so in the wild they will eat avian life and what ever else they can put in there moth but I just wanted to see if this was a safe option to spice things up a little for him.
thanks every one
i dont know for sure if its good or bad for ur frog but as for me myself, i wouldnt feed my frog that...i would just stick to earthworms and dubias or a **** load of crickets lol
Just offer him a small mouse or a couple fuzzies.
Ok thank you everyone, just wondering if it is a common practice because I know people feed them to monitors but a frog is not a lizard. It also seems like it may be a little leaner than a mouse but I really don't know. My wife and I had kind of a bet going on. I'll just stick to frozen mice to be safe.
It is good to spice your pyxie's diet up with a frozen chick or some live or frozen mice. I hope this helped you and your pyxie
I don't think feeding live to a frog is safe for the frog. Frogs dont kill their prey before eating like snakes do, they just eat it alive. A terrified rodent can do lots of damage with those teeth, plus IMO it's cruel to feed live unless you absolutely have to. Movement can easily be stimulated by wiggling the pinkie or rodent with tongs.
