For Christmas, my boyfriend found my ACF another ACF buddy on craigslist. They are both males, mine is about 2 years old and the new guy's age is unknown. The new frog, however, is a little bit bigger and a lot fatter than the frog I already had. He also came with a ziplock bag of salmon pellets that was used to feed him, a salamander, and a lungfish at his old home. He goes crazy for the pellets, which I assume is why he is so chubby! Is it safe to keep feeding them to him or should I switch him to the HBH Frog and Tadpole Bites that I am feeding my other frog?
Here are both of my frogs together.I'm sure they're happy to not be living solitary lives anymore, although I wish I had been able to isolate the new guy in his own tank first. The wild color frog is my original (Mose) and the albino is my new guy. The bf named him Kevin.
A varied diet is best,
When I kept ACF's I fed a rotating mixture of frozen (not freeze dried) blood worms and krill shrimp as a treat.
A staple of TetraFauna ReptoMin Sinking Granules Aquatic Frog & Newt Food. When they were small 1in STV
and Reptomin Plus when they got larger.
Also for treats I would feed 1/2 of a night crawler to each adult by hand ( they loved this)
What would do to slowly wean off the salmon pellets is to feed a few salmon pellets and get the little guy
in a little bit of a feeding frenzy and drop in a pellet of the reptomin plus and see if he will eat it.
Good luck!!
I miss my ACF's
