Hi guys! I posted my female albino ball python at craigslist.org, shes 4 months. Priced her 300$. Now I have a trade offer. A 1 yr old 5 inch carapace alligator snapping turtle. Now my only questions are.. is that a fair trade? And how much does an alligator snapping turtle about 5 inches cost? ThanK you.
If I had to choose between a ball python and snapper for a pet I would choose snapper for the fact that they are more active and fun. But they do need a lot of room as adults.
As far as if its a fair trade money wise then imo no. I've seen babies go for $45 these were about 2". Not to sure what a 5" snapper go's for but I don't think it would be that much more until you start getting to the larger sized ones. It may also be WC. I guess its all up to you though.
By the way both alligator and common snappers are illegal in CA.
Thank you all for the answers!!!
Ive been researching turtles last couple weeks. And a full grown snapper will require a huge tank. Recommendation is ten gallons per inch of shell. Not to mention filters made to handle two to three time the amount of water in the tank per minute. Then water heater, basking area, multitude of diet. In the long run you will be in a world of work and a huge dent in your wallet.
