Hello i just recieved my new tomato frog and im very excited, its just a little baby and i have him in a 10 gallon.i have a heat pad under it but i have never used a heat pad with any of my animals so im kinda worried about it.Are there any alternatives as a way of heat?I dont want to have a pet and not have the proper care for it so do you guys think i should trade it for a pacman frog?thanks for your help
You could use a bulb to heat the air just make sure it isn't shining directly onto the frog. Trading it for a pacman isn't the solution because they instinctively bury down under the substrate to keep cool and if there is a heat may down there then it will get too hot. I would just use a bulb to heat the air if I were you and congrats on your new frog.![]()
Thanks bro that really helped alot but I have one question about what the wattage should be on the heat bulb?also should I use a nighttime one too?i don't think the heat pad is working because there is a good 7 inches of Eco earth. So can you give me a good wattage day\night bulb to use.thanks so much
A night bulb would be best. You can get exo terra blue or red ones which are both good. A small tank will probably need a small, low wattage bulb whereas a large tank will probably need a large, high wattage bulb. Also you live in California and I'm guessing its warm there so you probably won't need a high wattage bulb. It's cold here most of the year so I have to buy high wattage bulbs so I think you will have to experiment with different wattages.
Do you think a 25 or 40 would be ok?also my main concern is if the frog will dry out?
