Girl or boy?

My frog has been looking really fat for a while. It may be because he eats too much but I'm not sure. He is a southern brown tree frog and I got him/her at the start of october and now it's christmas. I havent heard any croaking apart from the adult crickets so firstly - how can I tell if he is a male or a female? And secondly - if he is a girl how can I tell of it is about to lay her eggs. Thnx.
