It's usually inert and organic so it is safe as long as the balls are bigger than your's pet's mouth
As long as they come with no fertilizers; they are safe. Can also use the lava rock sold at Home Depot or major hardware stores.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
