I researched, and read through this forum, and the care sheet. I set up a 10 gallon tank with Eco earth substrate. UTH is attached to the side. My temps look good at 80 degrees ( I use a digital probe, and infrared temp gun. Humidity is around 70%. I have a new baby Pacman coming tomorrow. I thought I was set, but tonight I read something, and need your help. I reconstituted the Eco earth brick with regular tap water three days ago. I just read that I should reconstitute with treated water. My shallow water bowl has treated water, and so does the mister.
My question... Will the Eco earth with tap water be ok, or do I need to toss it?![]()
I've never used treated water on my coco bricks and my oldest pac is over 7yrs old and completely healthy ;-)
Hello and welcome to FF! It would all depend on how your city treats the water. At my locality I would not mix the substrate with tap because VB dose the water heavily with chloramines. You do not need to throw out the substrate. Just remove it and place in open bag until it dries up for later use. Then rehydrate with treated tap. In the meantime just use another brick mixed with dechlorinated water.
Lived in Panama City Beach back in early 80's while attending USN Dive School; hard work and fun times with lots of memories, happy holidays!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks for the replies! Since I do have heavily treated water, I did go ahead and replace the substrate. I have Leopard Geckos, a sulcata tortoise, and bearded dragon. I have decided that from now on, all will have treated tap water. Just makes good sense!
