    Default Fire belly tads

does anybody know what could be on my firebelly tadpole? its looks like a transparent air pocket attached to ONE of its sides.. it is on a couple of them, but worse on one in particular.. u can literally see through it, and it looks like it is going to pop.. the tadpole is swimming perfectly and eating great. it is one of my largest ones.... has anybody encountered this before?????

Hello and welcome to FF Shanna! What water maintenance are you performing in their tank? Do you know the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels? Deficient water quality could lead to internal bacteria that could produce those gas pockets. If so; correcting the water quality would be the first step. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

i have come to the conclusion it is "gas bubble disease".. is this going to affect the tadpoles as the metamorphosis? will the "pockets" rupture as they grow? everything i keep reading is talking about fish... i have them in a 10 gallon tank with a filter (not turned on yet bc some of the tads r still too lil to swim away from the suction) and i have an air stone... some artificial plants and a moss ball. i change their water about 50-70% every other day using the same exact temp of the water that is their tank using a thermometer first, then i add 2 drops of prime per gallon to rid the chlorine.. i have read to keep the air stone on to dilute the nitrogen gases which cause the "gas bubble disease" but in some other links, it sounds like too much air provided by air atone can actually create the air pockets.. it has affected more than one of my tads now. i have about 20 and i know at least 5 have the bubbles on them. one of them has a big bubble and u can see another bubble on the inside of that one... any ideas on how to stop this or make it go away..? can it go away?

How are they doing now? Did the air pockets (or whatever they were ever go away)? Did those tadpoles survive, and did it affect their transition into frogs? I hope they're all doing well.
