Inbreeding/line breeding are what causes the frogs to display a certain color pattern in captivity. As the gene pool tightens, genetic problems become more prevalent. It can become like it has in almost every breed of show dog. Certain breeds have their own certain problem. While the color patterns of the frogs are beautiful, does breeding for the certain trait effect the health and well being of the frog negatively? Does anyone who has a lot of pacmans notice that certain colors act differently, or require extra assistance (in say bathing, movement, feeding etc.) ? We as enthusiasts need to be careful not to let our animals go the way of the show dog. Beautiful to look at, but unhealthy and sickly. And I may be wrong here, I am not saying that morph pacmans are unhealthy by any means, but they may have the potential to if too much inbreeding/line breeding is allowed.
Any line can have issues genetically, but the Samurai morphs tend to show genetic mutations more than others. Especially Samurai Blue lines.
What do you mean by genetic mutations? The color itself is a mutation.
I understand now. Do you think outcrossing with lines outside of Samurai lines would help to curb this problem?
