Welcome Robb, you are colder there in Chicago than we are here in the Capital of Alaska, Juneau, about 25 degrees. I am a newbie too.
Hey, everybody. We're in the far western suburbs of Chicago where we woke up to a balmy -2°F this morning! Just wanted to poke my head in to introduce myself. My 7yo daughter and I finished putting together a new Zoo Med Naturalistic 18x18x24 vivarium a few days ago. She had a green tree frog named "Snoopy" for a long time in one of those tiny starter terrarium kits. Unfortunately, during a recent extremely busy week/weekend, his water and humidity levels were not properly maintained, and he met an untimely demise. :-( My daughter was devastated and cried herself to sleep that night.
I promised her she could get a new frog. This time, however, I wanted to do things right, or as right as a newbie can do. I studied up on vivariums, since we wanted a water feature in the tank, and proceeded to put one together using tutorials, tips, and hints found on numerous amphibian forums; mostly from Frog Forum, though.
Anyway, my daughter now has a much larger enclosure with live plants and a waterfall/stream/pond and three new American Green Tree Frogs. She is a happy little girl now.
With primary introductions out of the way, I will now head over to more specific forums here at FF where I hope to get answers to some questions I have about our new family additions.
Thanks,
Robb

Thanks, AKFROG. I can't tell you how badly I want to move south to a warmer climate. Or apparently NORTH to a warmer climate! I'm very much done and over with Chicago winters. Unfortunately, all our family roots are here. Sooooo... we will be staying here.
welcome to ff
