Hello everybody, I'm new member and planning to adopt a pacman frog and it is winter here, the temperature is quite cold ( between 16~20 degrees ). Is that ok if I feed a pacman frog without heating lamp? I'm going to put the pacman frog into a closed plastic box ( like this)Thank you so much for reading and answering my question
.
That depends on the temperature of the room you keep it in. You are going to want to shoot towards 80 degrees F. This can be achieved via a heat light or under tank heater. Are you ordering it online or buying at a Petshop? A lot of companies won't ship herps this time of year. No matter what, have the setup ready for it when it arrives. Make sure you can maintain that roughly 80 degree sweet spot in temp. With that, if you have any other questions as far as care and maintenance is concerned, feel free to post up! We want to see pics too when you get the chance. Oh, and also Welcome to Frog Forum!
Thank for answering, that was fast. " You are going to want to shoot towards 80 degrees F " that what i'm asking, is it necessary ? to be survived ? . I found a petshop that imports pacman, accessories from Thailand im my city and it seems to be a good reputable petshop also. Should I use this to heat the tank ? Attachment 63474Attachment 63474. Btw, it's 16~20 degrees C

Yes, it will need 80'F for good health. Colder temps slow their metabolism and they will stop eating. They can become sick if kept too cold. Babies actually do best around 82'F. They also need 80% humidity.

For the plastic critter keepers you can only use the hermit crab sized heat pads. I'd recommend the 5 gallon glass starter tank so you can use the bigger heat pad (that you posted) on the side wall at one end. I create a warm "corner" by adding another pad to the back wall adjacent to the side.
When the frog gets to about 2" or so, you can move him to a 10 gallon tank.

Thank you so much, it's very helpful to me, can I use the heat pad below the tank ? or on the side wall ?. Which is better ?![]()
The side is best. These frogs burrow to cool off. If you put a pad on the bottom your frog won't understand why it can't cool off.
