Just wondering how well D. tinctorius does feeding primarily on lobster roach nymphs. I haven't got access to fruit flies, but any other ideas for feeders are welcome.
Thanks!
I haven't heard good things about roach only diets. This would be a good question for Ed Kowalski if he still frequents this board. I'm not sure they make the best "stand alone" diet component.
Why don't you try Bean Beetles or Rice Flour Beetles. Pinhead crickets also work. The most important thing with any feeder is proper supplementation.
Cheers,
Alex

Why not produce your own fruit flies?
Get a small jar, place a piece of overripe banana inside, cover it with an old stocking or very fine mesh (needle-sized holes if possible), fix it on top of the jar with a rubber band or duct tape and place it in a dark corner. Place it on top of a saucer with water if there are ants. In a few days to a week you'll have our own fruit fly supply
I don't have darts but I've been feeding mainly red runner roaches for over 2 years mixing it up with crickets, wax worms, butter worms & moths for my WTF, AGTF & toads. Roaches are a very nutritional feeder, but like I said, I don't have darts.

How practical is it to feed fruit flies when they fly? I'm also unsure as to whether these flies are clean. I have fed them to the froglets of a native species and they appear to have died within seconds.
I am able to get perhaps only mealworms or calci worms. I'll do research regarding the bean flour beetles.
I carefully remove the piece of banana out and shake the jar until the flies are stunned. Usually takes about 2 seconds to dump them all in
If you breed them then they're clean. If not, then they're not. The ones you gave where probably exposed to chemicals already.
Roaches are a superb staple diet if they are the approprate size. Lateralis is My roach of choice. I can not stand lobster roaches. Lateralis are a little bit smaller then Lobsters, they do not climb or stink like lobsters, they reproduce super fast. The best thing about them is they dont burrow or play dead they run around causing attention that drives the frogs crazy. The babies are very small and would work great for a frog that eats prey items the size of fruitflys and bean beetles. Now the babies are a little bit bigger then bean beetles.
