I went away for the weekend and came back to this please help new tree frog owner
No the best with frog. Diseases but I'm a wrestler and that looks similar to ring worm witch is a fungus infection. I probably wrong but I might be on the right track I hope.
Nope, not fungus, but possibly a worm. You need vet! And it is not monkey frog![]()
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
I totally agree with Lija,
Your baby needs a vet asap.
I have had the same problem with one of my whites tree frogs.
The vet needs to remove the worm and then put it on some kind of anti parasitic drug
and a antibiotic.
Now the big thing is that your only frog you own?
Since you are in Canada it is a safe bet that your baby is a captive bred frog.
And this kind of parasites come from feeders i.e crickets
More than likely it is some kind of tapeworm.
so you might want to get any other frogs you own checked and treated.
I had three and only one was presenting symptoms but upon close examination the others had worms but haven't caused any infections.
I also if you do have other frogs move them and the one showing signed of the infection to a hospital tank.
A tank set up with just moist paper towels as substrate and changed daily.
And completely tear down their enclosure and use a 10% solution of Clorox and water to disinfect the enclosure
and any ornaments.
and if you have any wood in there soak it in the clorox mixture over night and bake in a oven at low for at least 1 hr
throw away any substrate and replace with new.
I would also change the source of the feeders.
highly recommend starting your own colony of duba roaches it is really easy and low maintenance and doesn't stink like crickets.
But seriously your baby needs to see a vet soon. That is what is most important.
No, on a contrary since it is a Canada it is safe to say it is wc, besides if that in fact is spargana, there is no way it is cb, that nasty guy gets in when a frog is a tadpole in contaminated areas and then sits in, matures and then migrates into subcutaneous layer and forms things like you see here, abscess looking lumps. It is rarely that thing is alone as they mature in waves, meaning you will see more of these within certain intervals, can be weeks, can be months. It is not contagious to other frogs or anything in the enclosure, however a frog has to be hospitalized and treated asap, it is intermittent tapeworm form, it doesnt reproduce.
It is extremely dangerous to use antiparasitic drugs, if there are more of these that are not visible now and all of them die as a meds result a frog might die too as a result of massive toxicosis. The only way to treat is to keep frog as stress free and as clean as possible, keep and feed spot on AND surgically remove the worm and use antibacterial meds. And wait.... For the next one.... Until they all are gone.
that is all provided it is in fact spargana, but it sure looks like it from these pics..
p.s. OP cant have dubiait is canada
((((( we are not allowed and are forced to stick with stinky crickets
(((((
