    Default Greetings all..

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone.
I purchased my first frog today - an albino Pacman. I joined this forum to learn more about these wonderful creatures and make sure I give him the best of care.
I'm looking forward to talking and learning more from everyone here.

    Cheers!
    Andy

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
I'm not sure how old my frog is, or if it’s a he or she. For now, it will be a ‘he’ until noted otherwise. He's about the size of a quarter or maybe a little larger - so I'm sure he's just a juvenile.
I got him last night, so he’s still getting used to his new home. I’m hoping I can give him a long happy life.
I'll have to take some photos soon and share with everyone.

Sounds like your little one is just a few months old.
I highly recommend that you get a small kitchen scale that can measure in grams
and keep track of his weight, that will be a good indicator of his progress. (and photos)

When he gets about 3 to 4 months older he migiht start to croak (if it is a He)
and another way is to look on its front feet right above the inner thumb of each front limb
and you will see a small brown patch start to appear.
    those are called nuptial pads.
If so then you most defiantly have a male.

My Pep likes to croak at 3 to 4 am most of the time.
    and randomly during the day.
    Not very loud.

He also makes cute lille grunts when I dig him up to do clean up of his enclosure.
But is he is a very calm frog and has never tried to bite me.
But be ware as they get older their bite can be nasty and if bitten resist the reaction to jerk
    your hand away.
This will make the bite worse and your frog my get thrown across the room and get hurt.

yes - this is all exciting to me! I’ve never owned a frog before. I’ve seen the pacman frogs at reptile shows but thought they were probably too hard to keep. After reading up on them a bit, I decided to get one.
I’ve owned this little guy for less than 24 hours now and can’t keep away from his cage. I’m trying to leave him alone so he gets used to his new surroundings.
I have a scale to keep track of his weight and will take photos once he has settled in.
Louis- I noticed you have a fogger with your setup. How often do you have it come on? I have one that came with my green tree python, but have since moved her to a new cage that doesn’t need it. My pacman is now in the previously unused python cage. It’s much taller than it needs to be, but works.

I have everything controlled by a zoo med hygrotherm HT-10 controller.
    no muss no fuss.
it even does a 5deg off set for nighttime temps automatically as soon as the light sensor on the head unit
detects a low light level it changes the se temp by 5 deg lower. 85f during the day and 80 at night.

I use a simple lamp timer to control the day light in the enclosure and have a set of red led's that are on all the time.

when I have the substrate properly moistened, wet enough to clump in your hands. the fogger hardly ever comes on
unless I have the doors open too long.
