    Can Anyone help me identifying this guy ....... size between 2 to 3 inches long ... picture taken two days back ......suburbs of Chennai, Tamilnadu, India

    One More view...... small luminescent dot can also be seen just below the mouth

    The native chubby frogs we have around here are usually around 2" and brown with a yellow stripe running down the spine and covered in white spots. That looks like a really big chubby frog and has a nice coloring to it. I love it, hope ours would've looked like that

    This guy was around the same size between 2 to 3 inches and he looks like Kaloula taprobanica ...( Daniel pointed me in the right direction)
    what i am trying to find out is whether the luminescent dot below the mouth in the neck region ( you can see it in both the pictures )..... is characteristic of the species ..

    I'm not sure either. You sure it's natural dot and not just some paint that it got somewhere? You did say it was found in the suburbs? I find that dot interesting as well

    The dot looks like something got stuck on it. Don't think its a characteristic of the species. i do think you are right about it being a taprobanica though.

    Took a closer look ...... yes does look like something stuck on it (should have done that b4) ........got deceived by the position and alignment ...lol .... thanx a lot ..
