My pacman frog is suffering from red leg. I have quarantined him and force fed him. I have also put some ointment on his legs to help with the pain, but is there anything I can do about the swelling?
What kind ointment did you use?
Hopefully just triple antibiotic WITH OUT pain killer.
I hope you meant you have it in a hospital enclosure.
the best is a 5X9 plastic bin with moist paper towels as a substrate and poke holes in the lid.
if the frog has been eating well before it was sick it can go a few days with out eating so force feeding is not necessary at this point in time.
Red leg is caused by poor conditions in the enclosure.
The best thing you can do when your frog is in the hospital tank.Is to totally clean out his old enclosure replace the substrate with new, any ornaments need to be cleaned very well with a mixture of 10% Clorox to water
And then rinsed and dechlorinated water that has two times the amount of the chlorinator added. Overnight.
Photos Will help greatly in the diagnosis.
Right now you want to limit the stress to the frog, so make sure you place the hospital tank in a area that will stay warm and quiet.
